Description
Hiking Mount Edith Cavell ~ Angel Glacier Jasper National Park
The drive up the mountain to the Edith Cavell hiking area is very narrow with many switchbacks. It made my lovely wife very nervous so I drove extra slow so that we would make it in one piece. We arrived to the parking area about 2 in the afternoon and at this point the lot was very full. Keep in mind we are in the middle of the Labor Day holiday weekend. We expected to see crowds all the time this weekend but this was the first that we actually saw significant crowd.
The hike up to the best of viewpoint of Mount Edith Cavell is a moderately difficult hike but with a little bit of perseverance pretty much everyone can make it. At this viewpoint, you get to see the glacial Lake that forms below the waterfall of the Angel glacier that is on top of the mountain. The view is breathtaking. It is certainly worth the hike.
