Description
It is amazing how good your photography gets when you have been dreaming about an image for 5 years.
A few years ago, we went to Acadia National Park to explore that amazingly beautiful place. When we left the park, we had intended to go see the iconic Portland Head Light, south of Portland, but I was too tired and grumpy to make the trip. I have been kicking myself ever since.
Well, on this trip to New England, Portland Head Light was elevated much higher on the list of important places to explore.
It is the most iconic, most photographed lighthouse in America for very good reasons.
Construction began for Portland Head Light in 1787 at the directive of George Washington, And it is the oldest lighthouse in Maine.
I photographed it multiple times on this trip, with good conditions for a sunset and again for a sunrise.
You will be seeing many images from this session, But for this particular shot I got up before sunrise to be in place for a possible amazing sunrise. I knew it had been overcast and the forecast was for the clouds to start to clear at sunrise time.
I was blessed with an amazing sunrise.
